2007 Ford Mustang

2007 Ford Mustang

I was approaching retirement when the 2005 mustang came out and I fell in love with Mustangs all over again. I bought my 2007 new & started about 10 years of modifications. I really don’t understand people not modding their mustangs. They are blank canvases with tons of aftermarket parts available. I dressed mine up as a tribute to the 69 Mach 1 complete with shaker scoop, louvers, and side stripes. I added a supercharger, all new suspension and a lot of other details. With 520 whp it’s a rocket on the streets and carves the corners better than I expected. I’ve now ordered a 2022 Shelby GT500 to keep it company and should have it by October. Thanks everyone and keep the car culture alive!
1985 Pontiac PPG Fiero GTP

1985 Pontiac PPG Fiero GTP

In 2009, General Motors sold off a sizeable portion of its private Heritage Collection cars to the public, via a series of high-profile Barrett-Jackson auctions. In April of 2009 I was lucky enough to be the winning bidder of one of only 6 PPG cars produced in ’85.

There were six of these specially prepped Fiero GTPs in various experimental PPG pearl metallic colors that made up the PPG Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) Precision Driving Team.
The team consisted of female drivers, who performed driving maneuvers and stunts during the pre-race festivities at race tracks during the ’86 and ’87 CART Indy Car racing season. The purpose of these special Fieros was to showcase the capabilities of the automotive suppliers to the automotive industry in a highly visible and public atmosphere.

Unique Mustangs Car Club

Unique Mustangs Car Club

An Auto Group with People First in Mind

If you’ve been a part of any other club in the area, they all have a agenda. Unfortunately, it’s not what you signed up for. They take your money, then forget who you are. At Unique Mustangs, the people are the difference. We believe that having fun in a “Club” also should include gatherings and events which promote the use of your Mustang. The people have the ideas to do these things and the officers help them get it done.

River City Corvette Association

River City Corvette Association

The River City Corvette Association was conceived as a means for Corvette owners to get together to talk about, trade information, and enjoy Corvettes! This was discussed among local owners and late May 1971. Approximately seven people decided to get together.
The first meeting was at Bill Bergthold’s mobile home with Bill, William Billerbeck, Ron Freitag, Gerald Harvey, Don Mellinger, Terry Walker, and Bob Williams. To be more organized, it was decided to appoint the first officers and adopt some rules before more members woud be solicited.
The first officers were finalized on June 6, 1971 and were as follows: President Ron Freitag, Vice President Bob Williams, Treasurer Gerald Harvey, Secretary Len Billerbeck and Officer at Large Don Mellinger. The officer at large was to prevent a tie in votes. There were many meetings at different people’s homes to work on the rules that eventually were developed into our bylaws. This was work! There were many varying ideas and heated discussions before issues were agreed upon.
It was decided to have a get together at Memorial Auditorium parking lot. To spread the word, everyone put flyers on any Corvette they saw. On a Sunday afternoon late in June 1971, approximately 20 Corvettes assembled at the parking lot. A city police car came and one of the officers, Dan Fidler, owned a Corvette. After they offered a “police escort,” everybody proceeded through downtown out on Mt. Pleasant Street to Roosevelt Avenue, then south to West Avenue and eventually lined up in front of the Crapo Park bandshell. Everyone in Burlington was “all eyes” at this new and unique sight. The enthusiasm this generated really helped get things off the ground.
During the month of July, membership applications were printed and the proposed bylaws written. Ron Freitag, Terry Walker, and Bob Williams designed the club logo, which was printed on membership cards.
To get things decided, there were three meetings in August 1971. At the meeting on August 12, a motion was made to accept the proposed bylaws, with the vote to come on August 26. It also was decided to hold some meetings in the park shelter houses and membership applications were distributed. On August 19, the motion carried that only active members could vote. A petition was presented and accepted for the re-appealment of re-elections. Subsequently, the original officers would remain for the rest of 1971. The bylaws were adopted on August 26, 1971 and the new membership cards distributed. From now on, meetings would be held only once a month, with officers’ meetings called by the president.
Due to a resignation, Jim Ross was elected treasurer at the meeting on September 30.
During October, RCCA had a get together at Lake Argyle with the Glass Menagerie Club from Macomb and a Halloween party.
The November meeting was held on December 2, 1971, at the first permanent meeting place, the Elks Club. On December 11, the first annual Christmas party was held at Steve Ozburn’s house. Due to a lack of members attending the December 30 meeting, the election of officers was postponed until the January meeting. The following people became members of R.C.C.A. during 1971:
Bill Bergthold               Jim Bell                        Richard Howe
Len Billerbeck              Steve Ozburn                 Mike Mellinger
Ron Freitag                 Bob Kirkpatrick               James Chick
Gerald Harvey              Randall Danniel              Jim Ross
Don Mellinger              Joseph Corman               John Roberts

We bought our Corvette (Minion) in 2015. There’s nothing like driving it on a nice sunny day with the top down. Our wind deflector has Minions graphics and the kids love it. It’s pretty much stock with just a few exceptions. We did paint the brake calipers and we replaced the shocks with C6 Z06 versions. The Billy Boat cat-back exhaust makes the car sound like it should have when GM built it. We did a little tuning to wake up the car and firm up the shift points. It’s a fun car to drive and people always compliment it.

Minion is FOR SALE! Find out more.

Mid-Illinois Corvette Club

Mid-Illinois Corvette Club

Mid-Illinois Corvette Club was formed in 1993 by a group of Corvette enthusiasts (David Nye, Dale Nelson, Jerry Birmingham, Harry Sweet, Jerry Pippin, Rex McMorris, Nick Bruketta, and others), who wanted to share their love of the Corvette. Their first ideas were tossed around at an informal meeting at Timberlake Club of Peoria. As their ideas grew, the number of meetings increased and were held in meeting rooms at Uftring Chevrolet in Washington, IL. Finally, a social club for Corvette owners was formed. Gary Uftring has generously sponsored and supported Mid-Illinois Corvette Club since its inception.

The original state filings indicate that the first officers for the corporation to be known as “Mid-Illinois Corvette Club” were David Nye, Rodney Lewis, Jan Pippen, and Liz Riniker. Further, “The general purpose of the organization shall be to encourage and provide social activities for members, to provide and regulate events and exhibitions for Corvette enthusiasts and to encourage safe and skillful driving on public highways. The Mid-Illinois Corvette Club will comply with the state and local laws and ordinances relating to alcoholic liquors.”

Mid-Illinois Corvette Club started with 20 members and currently has over 150.

Mid-West Corvettes

Mid-West Corvettes

It All Started In 1960

Back in 1960 at the age of 22, Paul Castle got the notion to form a club centered around a new sports car. That notion led to the formation of Mid-West Corvettes. Today we continue to benefit from the ideas that originated decades ago. Our members are very aware of our clubs’ heritage and we celebrate the birthday of our club each year in May. It started in 1960 with one man and this new sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette.
