In 2009, General Motors sold off a sizeable portion of its private Heritage Collection cars to the public, via a series of high-profile Barrett-Jackson auctions. In April of 2009 I was lucky enough to be the winning bidder of one of only 6 PPG cars produced in ’85.
There were six of these specially prepped Fiero GTPs in various experimental PPG pearl metallic colors that made up the PPG Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) Precision Driving Team.
The team consisted of female drivers, who performed driving maneuvers and stunts during the pre-race festivities at race tracks during the ’86 and ’87 CART Indy Car racing season. The purpose of these special Fieros was to showcase the capabilities of the automotive suppliers to the automotive industry in a highly visible and public atmosphere.
MG – Alive and on the Road in Chicago
MG may be back in England but the MG spirit has never died in Chicago. Here in Chicago there is an active group of MG owners and enthusiasts. We have been active since 1975 and sponsor rallies, technical sessions, and friendly get togethers.
We are the first and largest club in the United States to affiliate with the MG Car Club of England Ltd.. We are also affiliated with American MGB Association, North American MGB Register and North American MGA Register. On this web site you may also find Club Links to virtually every (to the best of our knowledge) MG club and/or all-British car club in North America, whether they have a web presence or not.
Founded in 1962, the Corvette Club of Iowa is part of the West Region of the National Council of Corvette Clubs. The Concrete Cruizers Car Club started off with 5 members one day back in the fall of 1987, and officially became a club January, 1988. Now, years later we have grown to over 200 members. We are a very diverse club with many different makes and models of vehicles.
We plan numerous outings thru out the year. Our biggest one is our annual car show which is held the 3rd Saturday of May. This is a charity car show and over the years we have helped a lot of different charities. The main ones are for children.
For information about joining the club, simply catch up with us at any car show or “cruiz nite.” Also on our contact page .
Our club meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month unless otherwise notified. The meetings are held at AMVETS 2818 5th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. Meetings will begin at 3PM.
If you’ve been a part of any other club in the area, they all have a agenda. Unfortunately, it’s not what you signed up for. They take your money, then forget who you are. At Unique Mustangs, the people are the difference. We believe that having fun in a “Club” also should include gatherings and events which promote the use of your Mustang. The people have the ideas to do these things and the officers help them get it done.

We bought our Corvette (Minion) in 2015. There’s nothing like driving it on a nice sunny day with the top down. Our wind deflector has Minions graphics and the kids love it. It’s pretty much stock with just a few exceptions. We did paint the brake calipers and we replaced the shocks with C6 Z06 versions. The Billy Boat cat-back exhaust makes the car sound like it should have when GM built it. We did a little tuning to wake up the car and firm up the shift points. It’s a fun car to drive and people always compliment it.
Minion is FOR SALE! Find out more.

We serve our community by contributing to many events while striving to be a good example in a safe and caring manner.

Mid-Illinois Corvette Club was formed in 1993 by a group of Corvette enthusiasts (David Nye, Dale Nelson, Jerry Birmingham, Harry Sweet, Jerry Pippin, Rex McMorris, Nick Bruketta, and others), who wanted to share their love of the Corvette. Their first ideas were tossed around at an informal meeting at Timberlake Club of Peoria. As their ideas grew, the number of meetings increased and were held in meeting rooms at Uftring Chevrolet in Washington, IL. Finally, a social club for Corvette owners was formed. Gary Uftring has generously sponsored and supported Mid-Illinois Corvette Club since its inception.
The original state filings indicate that the first officers for the corporation to be known as “Mid-Illinois Corvette Club” were David Nye, Rodney Lewis, Jan Pippen, and Liz Riniker. Further, “The general purpose of the organization shall be to encourage and provide social activities for members, to provide and regulate events and exhibitions for Corvette enthusiasts and to encourage safe and skillful driving on public highways. The Mid-Illinois Corvette Club will comply with the state and local laws and ordinances relating to alcoholic liquors.”
Mid-Illinois Corvette Club started with 20 members and currently has over 150.
Joining the fun with Mid-Illinois Corvette Club is easy. The first step is attending two club functions which can be a monthly meeting and a social event.

Back in 1960 at the age of 22, Paul Castle got the notion to form a club centered around a new sports car. That notion led to the formation of Mid-West Corvettes. Today we continue to benefit from the ideas that originated decades ago. Our members are very aware of our clubs’ heritage and we celebrate the birthday of our club each year in May. It started in 1960 with one man and this new sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette.
